Marrakech, Morocco: Your Ultimate Wedding Destination Wonderland
Dreaming of having a wedding that ignites your romantic nostalgia from the days of Casablanca? Ever-lasting love abounds when Morocco is your wedding destination. While many might assume the city of movie fame is the ideal place to be, Marrakech has become the wedding destination du jour.
“Utterly exotic, it brims with glistening beaches, a rich tapestry of history, and a vibrant culture.”
With old world and new world charms melded together, the narrow alleyways and market stalls give way to sheer elegance in the form of enchanting villas and luxury hotels. At this impeccable wedding destination, I can help coordinate and plan the romantic wedding of your dreams.
Quick Tips Before You Go
While you won’t need a visa to get into Morocco, you will need to make sure your passport is up to date and that you have enough pages to stamp at the back. Additionally, every marriage conducted in Morocco is under Islamic law. Non-Muslims that are non-residents can of course marry, but the ceremony isn’t always legally binding. You should obtain your civil marriage agreement first before embarking on your wedding destination.
How’s the Weather?
When marrying in Morocco, the best seasons to say “I do” are in spring and autumn. From June to August, the brutal and dry heat can be difficult to contend with. March through May as well as September through November offer delightful warm and pleasant temperatures that are ideal for your destination wedding. Another time to avoid planning your wedding in Marrakech is during Ramadan as it can pose difficulties in organizing daytime events.
A Rich Culture
Images of magic carpets might come to mind, but it’s important to remember that Morocco is Islamic and their cultural traditions need to be respected. Properly respectful attire is encouraged though for women, wearing sleeveless clothing and shorts is considered impolite.
You’ll find some of the wedding traditions practiced here to be lovely, like the intricate henna hand painting designs. This is done to ward off evil and boost fertility, an ideal way to intertwine your culture with that of the Moroccans.
Make Your Way to Marrakech
While Marrakech may seem like a faraway and exotic wedding destination, it is very easy to reach. Direct flights from the states can approach from New York City, however Europe has the most options to pursue with connecting to Marrakech. Wherever you’re coming from, you’ll find great accessibility to get to your dream wedding.
Crafting Inspiration at Venues
As Marrakech has some of the most stunning architectural and natural landscapes mixed together, I find that the on-site inspirations for designing your ultimate dream wedding are endless and all around me. A simple stroll through the souk, the lively colors from the local produce and hand-woven tapestries ignite my creativity. Every sense is evoked where I can curate a wedding tailored to your specific desires.
Textures, aromas, visually-pleasing designs, and an air of luxury all fuel the inspiration for turning a grand destination into something that fits your style. At the many venue options from private villas and palaces to sublime hotels, I am here to make sure everything falls into place without a single undone stitch.
Explore my Top Places Where I’ve Planned Marrakech Weddings
Your wedding is going to be the most memorable day of your life. When it comes down to planning, I won’t leave out a single detail. Here are some of my favorite locations in Marrakech where I’ve planned weddings. Let me help you plan your wedding destination here too!
Voted as the winner of the most beautiful hotels anywhere in the world 6 times by the most renowned travel authorities, Ksar Char-Bagh is a stunningly exquisite place to be. Just 15 suites make it an intimate experience, all surrounded by a gorgeous palm grove with burbling fountains and lush citrus orchards, olive groves, and fig trees.
This palatial hotel with Ottoman accents features a spa, stunning pool area, and a restaurant with superb examples of gourmet cuisine. Everything here is intricate and lovely down to the last detail. One of my favorite weddings took place here with a stunning reception and party with incredible entertainment.
– Lodje K
Expansive yet private, Lodje K is a luxury boutique hotel that conjures up images of the garden of Eden. It begins with the ocher entrance, giving way to rich green spaces dressed with tropical gardens and foliage that set the scene for the magical imagery of trekking from Africa to the Asian lands of the East.
It’s a subtle and serene venue where luxury is never compromised. With nature thriving outdoors, the interior boasts delicate chandeliers and delicate enhancements that soften the light for a romantically indulgent experience. The pool is the central focal point, styled like a blue lagoon with a green island in the middle. For my clients, Lodje K has been a hidden oasis that created the perfect escape for a destination wedding in Marrakech.
– La Maison Arabe
One of the crown jewels of Moroccan elegance is La Maison Arabe, an icon in Marrakech since 1946. Charming and divine, 32 rooms and suites await your stay, most of them with completely private terraces upon which you can gaze at the night skies and toast to your marriage.
With a traditional hammam spa ideal for couples’ indulgences, a choice of sparkling swimming pools, and a dazzling surrounding of gardens, it is the perfect setting for your wedding destination. Intricate Moroccan craftsmanship abounds through every last detail with cedar wood ceilings and tadelakt walls that truly craft a completely exotic yet refined atmosphere.
The restaurant at La Maison Arabe is astoundingly spectacular. The unbelievable ambience made it the perfect place for one of my couples to host their family dinner, an enchanting evening they will always remember. The menu is fully Moroccan with traditional delights and house specialties that will make a lasting impression.
